After a fairly strenuous hike, we found ourselves on a ridge that overlooked the town below - where the wild Dussehra festival was just getting started. Floats were wiggling in from countryside towns on the narrow road that runs beside the river. Drum beats carried clearly through the crisp air, echoing up through the valley that seemed miles below. And on the other side of the ridge, the High Himalayan plateau spread before us. It was an incredible scene - and so we did what anyone would do under those circumstances - we jumped.
